The Lions Clubs International Foundation highest award goes to four "GGREAT" Barrington Lions.  The Melvin Jones Award was given to show the Barrington Lions Club appreciation to some of it's hardest working members.  Pictured from left to right are: Nancy and Lion Don Thompson.  Lion Don is past president of the
Barrington Lions Club and his many contributions to club activities have not gone unnoticed.  Jan and Lion Glenn Engelhardt.  Lion Glenn is past president of the Barrington Lions Club and is sight Chairman for our eye glass collection program and eye glasses for underprivileged children in the Barrington area.
Lion Tim Dunn and his wife Christine,  Lion Tim is the Barrington Lions Club Liaison Officer for the Lions Club Barrington High School College Scholarship program.  The Scholarship Program is funded by our Club and has annual budget of $6,000.00. Julie, is an Emergency Room Nurse and was unable to attend the ceremony.  Lion Gene is Past President and is responsible for obtaining beverage sponsors for our annual golf outing at Chalet Hills, Cary, Illinois.  He has done an outstanding job in that capacity. Outstanding Voluneer Award - Walt Vonau & Ron Brandt
Barrington Lion Ron Brandt (right) accepts the Melvin Jones Award from Barrington Lion President, Walt Vonau.  The award was presented for Ron's untiring work with the Barrington Lions Club. Lion Ron is Past Club President, Membership Chairman, Chairman of the Golf Outing Food Committee, instrumental in
bringing together the various organizations to support the Barrington "Giving Day' at Christmas time and other worthy club endeavors.  Our thanks go out to Lion Ron for his fine work and it's the club's way of saying "Thank You" to a great volunteer.
Recruiting Award - Walt Vonau & Don Thompson
Barrington Lion, Don Thompson (right), accepts an award from Barrington Lion President, Walt Vonau. Lion Don was instrumental in recruiting 10 new members into the Barrington, Lions Club. Way to go Lion Don.
Recruiting Award - Walt Vonau & Brian Cecola
Lion Brian Cecola (right), accepts an award from Barrington Lion President, Walt Vonau for recruiting 2 new members into the Barrington Lions Club.  Maintaining a stable membership within the club is the goal of every member.  The new members can now reap the benefits of being a Lions Club Volunteer.
 Candy Day - Tim Howard, Walt Vonau & Dan Marquardt
Barrington Lions Club President, Walt Vonau (center), congratulates Lion Tim Howard (left) for his outstanding performance in the Lions Candy Day program,  Lion Tim collected in excess of $300 by "shaking the can!"  Pictured right is Lion Dan Marquardt.  Lion Dan was the Candy Day Chairman for the Barrington Lions Club and through his untiring efforts, the club was able to collect over $6,000.00.  Thank you Lion Tim and Lion Dan.
  DARE - Jennifer Wichter, Elsie Manchester & Ron Brandt
Barrington Lion Jennifer Whitcher (Left) and Barrington Lion Ron Brandt (Right) congratulate North Barrington Student (Fifth) Elsie Manchester on her graduation from the DARE Program.  Elise was
also the winner of the school DARE program essay contest.  The Barrington Lions Club has been a strong supporter of the DARE Program, donating $3,200 in 2004 for DARE T-Shirts and gifts given to each graduate.  Lion Jennifer is also a Detective on the Barrington/Inverness Police Force, as well as the Barrington/Inverness liaison officer for the Dare Program.
